Motivated by my parents, fruit of the musical environment in which they grew up, right after primary school I opted for musical learning. It's a passion that accompanies and seduces me in all my personal and academic growth. In addition to the interpretation component, as an instrumentalist (of trumpet), what fascinates me most is the creative process of writing and musical composition. In parallel with the development and study of the instrument, I gradually dedicated some time to the creation and writing of small works. From the beginning it was a passion and an artistic and creative challenge. Aware of my interest, my teacher, Nuno Peixoto, challenged me to compose and submit a first work to a composition contest. I was a winner in that first contest and since then I haven't stopped writing. Since then, I ran for three more contests, in which I was also awarded. These participations in competitions resulted in works of different styles, for different instruments. Of these awards won, I highlight the Festival CriaSons 2019 and the importance it has had in my journey to date.
The decision to continue my studies in the area of composition was the result of all the experiences I had in this area - the contact with the musicians who play my works, the preparation of competitions and the freedom I have in the creative process. The life of an instrumentalist, today, is limited to the preparation of orchestral tests, which makes my study always around the same works and excerpts. That would not make me feel fulfilled and happy, so I opted for another aspect than performance.
I joined New Age Connection, not only for being an ensemble with high artistic quality, but also for being a group with elements that were part of my musical journey.
Their project includes the dissemination of the work of young composers and this not only helps the group with the increase of its musical archive, but also gives the composers the opportunity to have their works played and recorded with this excellent ensemble. Including myself in this group of young composers, I am sure that my participation in the New Age Connection project will be beneficial and challenging.
