Francisco Pestana was born in Câmara de Lobos, Madeira Island, in 1999.

 

He finished the professional course of music in the school year 2018/2019 in the class of his trombone teacher, Pedro Pinto. He joined and participated in many masterclasses with: David Bruchez, Gabriel Antão, Luís Bonilla, Justin B. Clark, Hugo Assunção, Luís Rodrigues, Jacques Mauger, Rui Bandeira, Massimo La Rosa, Michael Sachs, Sergio Carolino, Gene Pokorny, Ricardo Pereira, Ejiro Nakagawa e Anne Jelle Visser, Jörgen van Rijen, Bart van Lier and Ian Bousfield.

 

As a student he played with Orquestra Clássica da Madeira under the baton of: Uan Mikirtumov, Jean-Marc Burfin e Gianluca Marcianò, Pablo Urbina, Luís Andrade e Martin André. In 2019 he won the principal trombone audition to Estágio Gulbenkian para Orquestra with Joana Carneira as conductor.

 

In the meantime he studies with Alexander Veerbeck, Brandt Attema and Ben van Dijk in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
