João Sequeira
He began his musical studies in 2008 in the class of professors Ricardo Monteiro and Hélder Roque at the Conservatory of Music and Arts of Dão. Joins the Professional School of Music of Espinho in 2016 in the class of professors Joaquim Alves, Nuno Aroso, Nuno Simões, Jeffrey Davis, Rui Rodrigues, Eduardo Cardinho and André Dias and in 2019 he is admitted to Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam, in the class by professors Ramon Lormans, Hans Leenders and Chris Leenders.
In 2015, he was awarded in the 2nd Lapa do Lobo Foundation Competition, having the right to play solo with the Filarmonia das Beiras Orchestra and in 2016 he won the 3rd Prize in the International Vibraphone Competition included in the Tomarimbando Festival. In 2018, he won the 1st Prize in the National Composition Competition for Marimba inserted in the Tomarimbando Festival, having his piece "Reflection: La Vague déférlante" published by Ava Editions. He also won the 1st Prize in the Competition "Composition Award Sec. XXI" of 2018, with the piece "Prelude et Deconstruction" for vibraphone. In 2019 it is part of the School
Espinho Music Professional awarded the 1st Prize in the contest "Quem é Calouste", in the Music category.
He attended masterclasses with internationally renowned percussionists such as Gary Burton, Émmanuel Séjourne, Kuniko Kato, Svet Stoyanov, Nick Woud, Filippo Latanzi, Miquel Bernat, Daniel Ciampolini, Claire Litzer, Paulo Oliveira, Ji Hye Jung, Angel Frette among others. He collaborated with the Espinho Jazz Orchestra, Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, Espinho Classical Orchestra, Zuid-Holland Symphony Orchestra and with the Codarts Symphony Orchestra, having worked under the tutelage of conductors such as Pedro Neves, Ivan Meylemans, Hans Leenders, Jan Wierzba , Alberto Roque, António Saiote, Jean-Marc Burfin, Daniel Dias, Paulo Perfeito, among others. He played with artists such as Mário Laginha, Julien Arguelles and Marta Hugon.
